# The Type Foundry

> An independent type foundry publishing original retail typefaces for editorial, identity, and digital design. A Project by James Hurst (https://hurst.world).

## About

The Type Foundry releases a curated catalogue of original typefaces designed for rigorous applications. Every typeface ships as a variable font where applicable, and is sold under a tiered commercial licence model: personal, freelancer, and business sizes (1–10, 11–50, 51–250, 250+ employees), plus a charity/non-profit half-price tier.

Licensing covers desktop, webfont, and app/software use cases. Charitable and non-profit organisations apply at checkout and are verified before their licence is activated.

## How to Navigate the Site

- **Homepage** `/` — rotating hero shows the featured typeface; "Type in the Wild" gallery shows in-use photography
- **Catalogue** `/typefaces` — lists all retail and coming-soon typefaces with descriptions and designer credits
- **Typeface Specimen** `/type/{slug}` — full specimen page per typeface: type tester (live variable-font preview), glyph map, technical specs, licensing calculator, and usage gallery
- **Account / Licence History** `/account` — buyers can retrieve their download links via email magic link (no password required)

## Machine-Readable Endpoints (no authentication)

- **Foundry Index JSON** `/api/foundry-index` — full structured catalogue: typeface metadata, designer credits, technical specs (variable axes, script coverage, OpenType features), and base pricing per licence type. Ideal for AI agents that prefer structured access over HTML parsing.
- **Sitemap XML** `/api/sitemap.xml` — live URL list with last-modified timestamps, generated from current CMS data.
- **OG Image** `/api/og-image/{slug}` — per-typeface SVG share image (1200×630) showing the typeface name, description, and accent colour.

All typefaces use the same tier structure. Prices are per-typeface, per-licence-type:
